Hello everyone

I'm really having a bad day.

My facebook account for LLL Creations is all mixed up. I can no longer log in. (Long story). I have tried everything and as of now it is impossible. I screwed it up myself (again a long story ...lol) and so I need a huge favour. If you have 'liked' my facebook page I need you to like my new one I have created so I can rebuild it.

My Busy Life ~

You know I dream of a day where I have 'nothing' to do. I would LOVE to have one day where I am bored out of my mind! lol Unfortunately my life isn't like that. I always have a million things on the go and it seems the days are never long enough. I'm not complaining, I actually like it that way. And I am the one the creates all the things I really need to do. But just once I would like to be caught up and have no lists! lol

We are just finishing another project, this time the laundry room floor. We decided to do ceramic because it is actually the cheapest way to go. Plus my husband always wanted to try doing a ceramic floor and the laundry room is a great place to learn because if it's not perfect that's OK. (And when I need my bathroom done I'll know who to get! LOL) So we started off buying the floor, just a neutral colour. After he started it I had an idea. Since we have many different extra ceramic tiles around the house from other rooms left over I thought why don't we put a design in the middle of the floor. He said you draw it out, tell me what to cut and we'll do it. OK ... lol. So I drew out a design and showed him where I wanted to put it and away we went. It was fun. It was like doing a jigsaw puzzle... lol.

The above pictures are when we were laying out the design and before it was actually cemented down.

So tonight he grouted it and it looks pretty darn awesome! It needs to dry and be cleaned so I'll show you the finished product next post. But that was a fun project. Ok so other then drawing up the design and helping him one night put the design down he actually did all the work including cutting all the tiles, cementing it down and grouting it ... lol. But I felt a part of it because of my design idea ... lol. He loves it too and it gave him more cutting `practice`.

It has been pretty darn cold out. I realize that's what January is normally like in Canada but I don't enjoy the cold at all. I love the heat. I know alot of people complain in the summer when it gets too hot but I don't. I love the heat! It seems one of my cats does too. I caught Nemo the other day lounging beside the fireplace and when I went over to pat him his fur was HOT HOT HOT! But he was loving it. lol

Yep, my 3rd post of the day. The first one was to let you know asap about the free goodies My Memories is giving away. The second one was to let you know about the awesome contest I am having, and this third one is to show you a new product and give you a great freebie. How cool is that??

Ok, so I've never been one to make big kits. But something wonderful inspired me. I am expecting my 2nd grandchild on June 8th!!! My grandson just turned 11 months and the two siblings will only be 16 months apart. But they wanted 2 children and wanted them close together and that's exactly what they are going to get! lol When they were expecting their first child they decided to find out the sex of the child. Of course it was a boy, my gorgeous grandson. This time around they are going to wait for the surprise.

That got me creating a 'pastel' kit with all the colours that would be good for any baby! Once I got going, I couldn't stop. I was having so much fun. And low and behold "Precious in Pastels" was born. The kit is massive (at least for me! lol). Here's some previews ...

Here is the frame in a layout of my grandsons first time in a lake. We were at a cottage in July and my daughter put him in this 'floaty thing' and he bobbed up and down with her for a few minutes and then fell fast asleep! lol It was so cute.

Nice Weekend ...

This weekend I had a nice visit with my daughter and her family and I was FINALLY able to give them the Wedding scrapbooks I made for them. They both really loved them and like I said a few posts ago I was thrilled with the outcome.

I did 2 -100 page books, I did the same cover for both with the same frame but used different pictures.

Even the spine came out nice and centered etc.

And here's a glimpse of a few of the pages ...

I had the books printed at Artscow. I love that place. For those who don't know it is in Hong Kong but delivers world wide. They always have tons of great offers on. Another reason my books were such a great success is because of the
My Memories Suite program I use. It shows you with a shaded area what will get cut off during printing so it's so easy to make sure everything is in exactly the right place. It also has a 'grid' you can use to line things up and for spacing things correctly. I LOVE that program. (It has so many great features I can't name them all). So between My Memories Suite to make the books and Artscow to print them I am enjoying scrapbooking much more these days!

My next project is going to be a book for my grandson. He is 9 months now and I think I will do one big one for his first year. It's so fun to watch him crawling and walking with a little assistance. He can even take 4 or 5 steps even on his own now! I even got in a night of babysitting this weekend when his parents went to a wedding!

One of the things I will be using for sure in my grandsons book will be dates. It's so important to make sure you date your books. I plan on using my 2011 date stamps (I've given them a few times away on my blog). You can see I used one in the layout above. (It's reduced to 50% - they are quite large). From One Holiday To The Next ...

Ok, now that Halloween is over people start thinking about Christmas. The reason I'm thinking about Christmas is:

#1 - We have to put the Christmas lights outside (especially on top of the gazebo) BEFORE it snows ... lol. So we are going to do that this weekend.

#2 - This will be my grandsons 1st Christmas! So exciting.

So how was your halloween? We had quite a few ghosts and goblins last night, much more then we did last year. We actually ran out of candy and chips because we weren't expecting that many. Luckily it wasn't raining (or snowing) here like it usually is. My grandson dressed up (he's only 9 months old) just to go see friends and family. What a cute little monster!

He is not walking on his own yet. (He actually walks FAST if you hold on to his fingers!) But he has mastered crawling and standing up against something. He can even stand up without holding on for a bit. It's so amazing how fast these past 9 months have gone by and how much they learn in such a short time. He also has 8 teeth already and a joy to be around. Being a grandparent rocks! LOL

Hello fellow scrapbookers ...

I am on vacation and decided to do a quick post.

After a year and a half I FINALLY finished my daughters wedding scrapbooks. I had been hesitating because there were so many pictures from different people to go through and sort out and pick from. Well, after picking out the 'for sure' pictures from different folders then came the job of sorting them together in order. Then of course some pictures needed to be brightened etc. That part is what made me procrastinate and that is what made me take so long. After that is was fun!

To make this album I used 'My Memories Suite 2.0" software which is a great program I've talked about before. It makes everything so easy and it's a really fun program to use. Not only can you make scrapbooks but after you are done you can put the pages on a dvd or even put them on your ipod. You can add music and so much more. Whoa ... I honestly didn't realize how long it's been since I've been here. Is my life on fast speed? I never thought I would be one of those 'bad bloggers' but time really does seem to slip away. Summer is just about over and the whole season just seemed to 'whoosh' by.

My grandson turned 8 months the other day!! Holy Moly! He's crawling and stands up and walks (actually runs) with the help of just a finger to hold on to. He said his first word the other day too - Mama ... awwww... so cute! My husband and I had him for a whole weekend a few weeks back and it was great. We had so much fun but I had honestly forgot how much work a baby is ... lol. It gives me a whole new appreciation for motherhood all over again!

I'm not only behind on blogging but believe it or not I'm just starting my daughters wedding scrapbook. There was a million pictures to go through and sort and pick and choose from. I finally got that all sorted out and now I'm just starting. I'm really in love with the scrapbooking software I've been using to do it. If you don't have any scrapbook software I highly recommend

A Relaxing Week

We just got back from a wonderful relaxing week at a cottage. The weather was absolutely fabulous and it was a fun time. It was also great to spend a whole week with my grandson who is such a joy to be around. Always happy and giving a big smile, he is just a sweetheart.

We went with a group of people (we had 3 cottages) and we shared one with my daughter, her husband and my grandson. A really nice cottage and great overall place. We actually are booking it again next year.

On the last night there we had the most amazing sunset. It truly was probably the nicest I've ever seen. Of course everyone had to get pictures with it as a backdrop and that's exactly what it looked like .. a backdrop.

So we made some memories and had some fun. That's what life is all about.

Surprise ... Surprise! A new post so soon? Yep, because I officially am on vacation for 11 days starting today (well, tonight because I worked today ... lol).

We are going to a cottage for a week (yes, they have internet access, yes, I'm bringing my laptop!). A nice relaxing week away from work ... and my daughter and husband and my grandson will be there too ... all week. A whole week with my grandson, I am sooooooo excited~!

My grandson is now over 5 months old and growing like a weed. He is so

Having a grandson has changed my life and even though we don't live in the same city we try our best to see him as much as possible. He lives 2 hrs away which isn't too bad but I do wish we were closer.

Looks like summer is finally here with the beautiful weather we are getting so far in July. Hopefully it stays around until December!

Sorry for my long absence. You know how it is ... days turn into weeks, weeks turn into months. Forgive me, but here I am. :-)

Talk about time flying, My grandson turned 3 months old already on May 2nd~! He's so adorable and such a good baby. He's always so happy and smiling. And he has been sleeping very good lately and giving my daughter her much needed rest. YAY!

Next weekend I am going over her house to babysit while they go to a party. Can't wait.~!!

And this will be my daughters first Mothers Day. She truly is such a good mother and I'm so proud of her.

Happy Spring~! (if you are living in the northern hemisphere). And just on cue when Spring arrived here we have had the sun shining almost everyday. Baby Blue

Well, I didn't wait a month to post this time! Yay! 2 weeks isn't too bad.

Well, I was able to spend a little time with my grandson and he is as cute as a button! He's got the cutest little face and smiles when he is sleeping. The other day my daughter had a professional photo shoot done at her home and she got a sneak peak of a few of the pictures right away.

These are just so adorable! I'm looking forward to any chance I get to spend with this little guy. My whole family was able to get together last weekend and it was great. It's not too often we are all able to be in one place at one time. And it was very appropriate because Monday was Family Day in Canada.

My husband and I are both on Day 36 of not smoking! Whooo Hoooo. It feels great!!

He's here............. my new little grandson arrived on February 2nd~!!
A week late and stubborn until the end ... lol.

My daughter was told by her doctor that if she didn't go into labour by Jan 31st he was going to start inducement as she would be almost a week overdue. My daughter had told me that if when the time came if I could make it there on time (we live 200 km's apart) I could go into the delivery room with her and her husband. Well, no problem there, I just took a few days off work and went there on the night she was going to be induced ... lol.

So on the evening of the 31st she went into the hospital, received some gel and was told to go home and if nothing happened come back in the morning. Well, we sat around and even though she was getting contractions they were not regular and she had been getting contractions for weeks anyways. Next morning back to the hospital and she was admitted and they started monitoring her and the baby. She just wasn't dilating. We spent most of the day there and they actually gave her more of the gel to help start dilation. We were shocked when they told her to go home again and come back when the contractions start getting stronger~! (It's sure not like it used to be!) So back home we go and after many hours the contractions did start to get stronger ... so back to the hospital we go.

Hours go by ... no progress. Well, the contractions were getting stronger and they were steady but she just wasn't dilating. They finally gave her some pain meds and eventually epidural but she still no progress. It was a very exhausting day for all of us. We sat around watching the babies heartbeat on the monitor, alot of small talk ... some laughter and a few tears with worry etc. Finally in the wee hours of the next morning they told her she was going to have a c-section and that the baby obviously was not ready to come out any other way. Because it was going to be a c-section only her husband was allowed in the delivery room. The next almost 2 hours were the longest hours of my life!! lol

Little Hayden was born at 3:09 in the morning, weighing 6 lb. 12 oz. and mommy, daddy and baby are doing great! And I am a grandma and so in love with this little guy!

He's so tiny but just perfect. Even though no one was expecting a c-section and at first it was a little upsetting, scary etc., once Hayden was born everything was just fine. When I got to see him for the fist time my heart was just full of love for him instantly.

Such an exciting time in life~!!!

My husband and I have been non-smokers for over 3 weeks now! Yay ... we are over the hump and well on our way. I am so proud of us and so happy that we have been able to do this. I truly believe we will never smoke again.

Ok, I know I'm a little late ... tsk, tsk. But I'm here now and that's all that matters. Happy 2011 ~ Wow!

My daughter has not had the baby yet, her due date is actually the 25th but they will let her go until Feb. 3rd. He's almost here!!. She's really getting uncomfortable and can't wait to go into labour ... lol. They had a maternity photo shoot done around the Christmas holidays and had some really nice shots taken.

So any day now we are going to be grandparents. What an honour!

I have lots I could write about and I could go on and on ... but I'm going to keep this as short as possible. There is one thing I want to tell everyone though. My husband and I both went last Thursday for laser therapy to quit smoking ~!! Yay. And so far so good. We are non smokers ... we are non smokers. It is tough but we can do this!!!

Where Do I Start???

First off ... a huge apologoy for my longggggggggggggggggg absence. I have no real excuses, no huge stories to tell (Ok, maybe a few but they really had nothing to do with me not blogging) - no real reason. Other then the fact I was getting tired and life seems so busy all the time. Days lead to weeks, and weeks to almost 2 months. Every couple of days I would tell myself "I have to blog tonight", but then I just didn't have the energy or drive to follow through. But here I am the day before Christmas eve and I have today off work and so I'm not moving from this chair until I'm done!!! LOL

I know I recieved many emails and I am very touched that so many of you were concerned. Thank you. Everyone here is fine and the cats are too~! I think after opening this blog in April 2008, sometimes posting 3 or 4 times a week, it just started to feel like a huge burden on me. I hope everyone can understand. I'm not going to shut it down and after Christmas my hours will be cut at work so I really am hoping to get back into some kind of normal routine. Even if it's just once a week. So don't give up on me yet!!!

My daughter is due in exactly one month. She looks so cute pregnant. But she is in that last stage where it starts to become uncomfortable. A few days after my last post we went & saw little Hayden in a 3D/4D ultrasound. It was so amazing! Watching him move around and yawn and even smile! Seeing his little fingers and toes, it was such a great experience.

All the dark areas are fluid. And that was almost 2 months ago so the little guy has probably changed alot. But we know he has all his parts! lol. We can't wait to meet him.

Now as far an Nemo goes, I know a few people asked about him. There is no short way to tell this story. When he got very sick at the end of October we saw a huge turn around after he was given fluids and antibiotics. About a month later (End of Nov) he got sick again. Same type of thing. He hid under the bed, wouldn't eat, drink etc. Of course it happened on a weekend and we had to force feed him and give him liquids by syringe into his mouth. He was very sick again. Back to the vet and had another blood test done. My husband mentioned to the vet that the last time he was on antibiotics 2 of the pills were wasted when Nemo spit them up and we couldn't get them back into him. The vet didn't think that had anything to do with it but my husband insisted he give him another weeks worth of antibiotics while we were waiting for the test results. We brought him home and immediately after the first pill we saw a difference. The next day the blood tests came back normal again. Weird. Each day with the pills he got better and better. The vet wanted to do all kinds of more tests of course but again he seemed so much better. Within a week of taking the antibiotics he was right back to normal. In the meantime we brought Bailey our cat in to get neutered. I had a thought that maybe Nemo was sensing Baileys masculinity as Bailey had started to mature, and maybe he could smell his 'maleness' and was put out by it. So many theories for this illness went through my head. Then I received an email from a cat club I belong to and the topic was 'Poisoness Plants to cats'. I printed it out but didn't read it right away. A few days later I sat down to read it and almost fell on the floor! I thought I was a 'good' pet owner and kept my cats inside and kept them safe. But I'm reading this information and at the top of the list is Lilies. As soon as I read it I thought about my husband bringing me Lilies a few months ago. I had taken pictures of them so I immediately went and looked at the date I took the pics. I took pictures of the Lilies on Oct 23rd, about a week after I had received them. Nemo got sick the first time on Oct 25th. Coincidence? Those Lilies lasted forever and even after the flowers fell off I kept the plant because it was potted and still nice and green etc. I finally threw the plant out after about another month. Hense Nemo getting sick again?. Either way I had googled it and was stunned at just how poisoness these plants are to cats. I never knew that!!!!! It can kill them within hours if they ingest ANY part of the plant, not just the leaves but the flowers (even dead flowers) the roots or any part. CAT OWNERS BEWARE - Lilies are put into many plant arrangements that you can buy - DO NOT allow them in your house. I have many plants in my house and Nemo is not a plant eater. My theory is that he might of 'played' with a fallen flower and licked his paws. I really have no idea but I do know we are soooooooooo lucky that both of our cats alive and well. I just hope there is no long term affects from this. The vet doesn't think so but again I never got any clear answers from him.

A Sneak Peek ...

YaaaaaaaHoooooo.. tonight I'm going to my daughters and we are staying overnight because Saturday... we all get a 'sneak peek' at our new little baby~! My daughters 3D Ultrasound! I'm sooooo nervous, excited, emotional about it. (I can imagine her and her husband!). I actually was a little skeptical at first with all this new technology they can do and wondered if it possibly could be bad for the baby. But the other day I went and had a total physical and I casually asked the radiologist about it. She said there is absolutely no problem with it .. unless - for some reason during your pregnancy there is a problem and you need many, many more ultrasounds. There is no proof that ultrasounds harm the baby but they try to keep it to a limited amount. That made me feel much better as she said she would get one done herself!.

Anyways, it will be exciting. I hope little 'Hayden' cooperates and shows off for us!! lol

Thanks to everyone for there nice comments on Nemo. He is totally back to his normal self and feeling just fine. And Bailey is such a wonderful cat. We love his personality EXCEPT - he eats like a dog!!! LOL I have never had a cat that eats everything you put out. When Mischief was around, I would put out 2 bowls in the morning of wet food (I always have dry food out) and him and Nemo would eat a bit each and walk away. Then they would come back now and then and have a bit. But now when I put out food - Bailey eats everything in sight until it is gone. It's horrible. Nemo actually has changed his whole eating pattern just so he doesn't starve ... LOL. Nemo eats much more then he normally would at one sitting but he still doesn't eat all of it ... but Bailey comes right behind him and finishes it off. My husband calls him the little piglet. I'm not sure what to do when we go away overnight. I'm thinking of seperating them into seperate parts of the house so they can each have their 'own'. I'm hoping this is just a phase ... maybe because he's a growing cat, maybe because he's never had 'enough' food, maybe, maybe, maybe. Any suggestions would be appreciated ... LOL.

A Worrisome Week ...

Well, it's been a hectic, worrisome week.

Bailey our new kitten (he's actually at least doubled in weight since we got him) has adjusted quite nicely. He's got a great personality and has fit in just fine~!

Nemo and him have been great together too. I had noticed a few weeks back that Nemo's 'meow' seemed really raspy. He is a very vocal cat and meows alot. It definately sounded like he must have a bit of a cold. I noticed it the week after we got Bailey but I honestly think it might of started a few days before. Anyways, I really noticed it that week and figured Nemo must of got it from Bailey since he did have a bit of a cold coming from the Humaine Society.

One week ago we had company and I noticed Nemo wasn't around much but I thought it might be because we had company. He's not antisocial or anything but sometimes he just wants to be alone. The next day, Saturday, I found that Nemo didn't want to come out from under our bed. I tried everything to coax him and even brought him up food and water and he wanted nothing to do with it. I started to get quite worried that evening. On Sunday, same thing, he wouldn't come out from under the bed. We could see he was having a hard time swallowing, and was obviously getting dehydrated. We took him out and tried putting food and water in his mouth but he just wanted to go back under the bed. Now I was really worried!

I had to work Monday so my husband brought him to the vet and they did blood work. The blood work results came back all normal except some elevated white blood cells and said they had to send some blood work to Toronto (a city a 100 km's away) to check for pancreas problems.

They hydrated him with fluids by a needle under his skin and gave us an antibiotic and some perscription food that they said we would have to give him by squirting it through a syringe into his mouth. When my husband got home with him he opened the food and decided to try some in a bowl first. And Nemo ate it. Yay! I called from work and was really happy to hear that. Nemo obviously was weak from not eating etc and slept most of the day. That night he came downstairs and laid on the back of the couch like he normally does and ate a little more food too. The next day we called for the results of the blood work and it came back normal. No problems with the pancreas. YAY! They weren't sure what it was but they wanted us to keep giving him the antibiotic medication and keep a close eye on him. It was 'some type' of infection. I thought for sure Bailey had given him something from the Humaine Society but the vet said it is highly unlikely and just a coincidence. Either way, Nemo is much better. Not 100% but close and we couldn't be happier. The vet charged way to much as usual, but who can put a price on a family pet? Was it worth it? Hell Ya!!! I truly think without the hydration he might not of been here today.

Nemo is only 6 years old and has alot of years left in him ... we are so glad he's back ~!!!

Introducing ...

Yay. We have a new addition to the family~! Last weekend my daughter and her husband came down for Thanksgiving. They came down Friday night and stayed until Sunday. I had to work Sunday so we had our Thanksgiving dinner on Saturday. Anyways, on Saturday my daughter and I went out shopping for material to recover some chair cushions she needs redone. On the way home I 'suggested' that we should stop off at the Humane Society and see what's there. Well ... it's soooo sad what is there. So many cats and dogs and it's just sooo ... sad.

There were many, many adult cats. Apparently one large cat named Sophie has been there 3 years! (I didn't even realize they would keep them that long!). But she is so big she almost fills up the whole cage. That is sooo sad. I wanted to take her out and hold her but to be honest she had a very nasty look on her face and I was afraid to. Most of the older adult cats really looked ... not mean ... but fed up? That must really make it hard for them to be adopted because of their demeanor. I'm sure because they are adults they probably stay there the longest. There were also many baby kittens. Some looked way too young to be away from their mother. And amongst all the cages and cats, the meowing it just breaks your heart. There was one young kitten maybe a 9 or 10 weeks old that was just crazy. He obviously wanted to play but he was jumping up and down and sticking his paws through the cage bars and going kinda nuts. So I didn't want to hold him either ... lol. Then I saw this cat in one of the corner cages that was just sitting there looking at us. I walked over and started talking to him. He rubbed up against the bars and purred. That was it, I opened the cage door and picked him up. He snuggles against me, purred like an engine and started licking my hands. I fell head over heals!!! LOL

I thought he was adorable and asked some questions about him. They said he was dropped off in the parking lot with his 2 female siblings about 3 months ago. Awww... But as the lady said, better to drop them off there then in some back alley. It's still horrible. Well, we went home and I immediately told my husband about him. I was really surprised when he said 'Let's go back and look at him'!!! Oh ... alright, I said ... LOL. We all went back and I had the same reaction the 2nd time I picked him up. (They think he is around 5 1/2 months old). My husband took to him immediately too. And that was it. We adopted him right there on the spot. I really truly was not planning on getting a cat that day but ... everything happens for a reason.

He is this beautiful light tan colour ... with a 'hint' of orange to it and white. We named him Bailey. (He's the colour of Bailey's Irish Cream ... lol) He's so lovable. I took Carol's information she had sent me about intoducing a new cat into the home and used 'most' of it. I segregated Bailey into one room of the house complete with everything he would need. But when we first arrived home with him in the cat carrier, I did let Nemo sniff him through the door. We spent alot of time in the room with Bailey when we could and he just purred and was obviously very happy. Nemo knew there was a cat in that room and tried peeking in everytime we opened the door. The 2nd day when I went into the room I left the door open. I sat on the rug and put Bailey in my lap. He just stayed there and purred. Nemo came in, looked at us and then started sniffing everything in the room (including the litter box ... lol). Bailey made it easy, he did the perfect thing of just watching Nemo and not trying to get off my lap or anything. After Nemo was done I shut the door again. The 3rd day, same thing, I let Nemo in. This time I put Bailey down on the rug to see the reaction. Nemo came over, they sniffed nose to nose and that was it. They have been great together ever since. YIPPPEEE!!!

We took Bailey to the vet for a checkup yesterday. Bailey has ear mites which are quite common at the humane society or anywhere there is alot of stray cats. He also has a little cold. So he had a vacine (his 3rd, two were given at the Humane Society) and a treatment for the ear mites and is now on medication for the cough. But other then that he is eating like a piggy and is active and alot of fun. The vet confirmed he is apoximately 5 1/2 months old and since we do not know an exact birthdate we picked one ...

And so ... here's Bailey ...

It's so exciting how quickly Nemo and him became friends. It's always a worry when you bring a new animal into the home. He truly is a little 'Purr-ball'. He purrs sooo loud. And he is quite the snuggler too. He's a little too young to get neutered but probably within the next month. Are you still with me? Wheh .. that was a longg post .. lol.

This weekend is Thanksgiving weekend in Canada. The holiday is on Monday and even though I work Sunday it gives me that extra day off during the week. I have LOTS to be thankful for. A wonderful husband (he'll be SHOCKED when he reads this ... lol), a fabulous daughter who is so happy with her fantastic new husband. An awesome sister and brother (who I don't talk to or see enough of ~!!!) And great extended family all over the place. And of course then there is the new addition who will be arriving at the end of January ... I can't wait to meet Hayden!!!
And many other things also ...

My daughter and her husband are coming down Friday after work and staying until Sunday morning so that will be nice. We've got the turkey defrosting and I'm looking forward to a wonderful dinner on Saturday night.

Thanks to a very nice lady named Carol who sent me some great information and rules for introducing a new cat into the home. I haven't found a new cat yet (I haven't had alot to time to dedicate to looking), but I know it will be in the near future and our new cat will be the perfect match for us and Nemo. I am definitely going to try these 'steps' and see what happens. And I'll be sure to introduce our new feline family member on here as soon as it happens!!

It's becoming a Ritual ...

It's not a Friday ... but it's still been a week since I posted. Sigh! I guess this is becoming a new ritual of mine ... but it's totally unintentional.

Last night just before dusk, I was outside and the sky was just amazing. One of the most beautiful skys I have ever seen. And I've seen some amazing skys.

It was one of those skys you just can't stop looking at because it changes so quickly. It went from pink, to purple to this amazing orange colour just before it got dark. It was spectacular!

I still haven't started my daughter's wedding scrapbook. She has most of the pictures but is still waiting for one dvd from one of the main photographers. I want to wait until I have them all to start it so I can compare and choose the appropriate pictures. I do know that there is alot of really nice ones and this is one of my favourites so far!

One of my favourites ... I have lots of favourites though ... lol.

OK, That's a Little Better ...

Well, at least it's not Friday I'm posting ... lol. My shifts at work have been Sunday to Wednesday with Thurs, Fri and Sat off so it's hard during the first of the week to get on here. But here I am.

I've been really thinking about getting another cat. Mischief has been gone for about 4 months and I think Nemo really needs another friend. I'm just not sure if I want a young kitten or not. I'm thinking maybe a young adult cat might be a better idea. We'll see. Nemo and Mischief were very close in size except Nemo was taller. I know Nemo has long legs and the other day he was lying on the couch and I was shocked and just how long his legs really are when he stretches out ... lol.

He's such a character. I'm just hoping he will 'allow' another cat into his territory. Any tips that anyone can suggest about bringing a new cat into the house would really be appreciated! I'm not sure when I'm going to get one but it's something I think about alot now so who knows. Don't you think he needs a friend?

These 'Fridays' are NOT intentional ...lol

Ok, It's Friday again ... lol. This is not an intentional thing as I would love to be on here more often. I'm on day 2 of 3 days off in a row .. YIPPEE! The thing is I had to spend some time designing and here it is Friday again. Hopefully soon I'll get back to a more regular routine as my work schedule is looking much better~!

Autumn is just around the corner and even though the days have still been fairly nice it sure is getting cooler in the evenings. And many of the birds have been practicing flocking for the long flight they will be taking soon. I'll have to get a picture of the hundreds of starlings that gather in the trees behind us and take off in flight together ... it is amazing! The Canada geese are also flocking.

I know alot of people think they are just pests but they are such a majestic bird and I love watching them.

And all the birds are enjoying the seed we have been putting out. Some of them - especially the chickadees, finches and the woodpeckers are getting sooo tame.

The woodpecker below didn't mind at all that I was only a few feet from him. He knows who feeds him ... lol.

And so another summer has passed us by. I'm definately not complaining about this summer though ... the weather was amazing from May on. Now if only the upcoming winter will be like the last one ... which I didn't complain about either~~~

A Mothers Joy

Well, last weekend was fun ... but I have no idea what happened to this week! Friday again? Impossible!!! It feels like yesterday since I posted and it's already been a week. I'm really going to have to do something about that!

We went and stayed at my daughters last Friday night and got to see her growing baby bump. She looks great and both her and her husband are looking soooo excited. The baby has been really active and it's a really special time.

They are starting to get the nursery ready and went out and bought a crib. Cribs these days are so neat. The one she bought can be converted into a toddler bed and then later a full size double bed complete with headboard and footboard. Great idea! The one she bought is very similar to this one;

It's great because all cribs are pretty expensive so you might as well get one you can keep on using after the baby has outgrown it.

And then Saturday we all went to my great-nephews 1st birthday party. Oh my, has he grown! And is as cute as a button. Of course he was spoiled rotten and he enjoyed every minute of it. Here he is enjoying his first birthday cake ... lol.

Almost the Weekend Already?

This week just flewwwwwwwww by! I can't believe today is Friday already. And I have today off ... and tomorrow ... back to work Sunday but then off again Monday because it's Labour Day in Canada. ~ Yippee.

But another busy day today because we are going to my daughters tonight and spending the night there so we can all go to my great nephews 1st birthday party on Saturday. We are going to try to leave this afternoon so we don't hit rush hour traffic. And I get to feel my grandbaby today ... YAY! Apparently the little munchkin has been kicking up a storm ... lol.

AND ... I get to see all my daughters wedding pictures and get copies on cds. Yay .. that means I can start her scrapbook. I wish there were more hours in a day ... lol.

I still haven't had a ton of time to design but it should get better in September. I did get a chance to make these cool frames though ... lol. So they went into LLL Creations Dollar Mart today;

Ahhh ... the weekend ...

Yay! I have the weekend off ~ And not only that my September work schedule looks so much better then August. No more 5 or 6 days a week. I asked to be cut back to 4 shifts a week. That should free up a bit of time for designing ... yippee~!!

A fews posts ago (HERE) I showed a dried flower arrangement that I wanted to try. Well, I cut my Black Eyed Susans and dried then out in between some heavy books for a few weeks. It actually worked not too bad. I then put them in a frame that I had with double glass and this is what it turned out like.

I wasn't 100% satisfied with the results but I guess it wasn't too bad for my first try. I think next year I will be prepared to make a much nicer one. You really have to make sure when putting the flowers between the books that all the petals and leaves are lying flat and facing forward. Once they come out from the books and are dry you really can't change them. Also I should of picked them a bit earlier while the stems weren't so thick. I think next year I will do one with a few other flowers, make it more symetrical and have the bottom line up nicely like a bouquet. But it was really fun to try.

My great nephew is going to be a 1 year old on Sept. 8th already! Wow, that year went by fast. Next weekend is his first birthday bash and it should be alot of fun. I decided it was time to make some kids word art and so this is what went into LLL Creations Dollar Mart today;

A Day Off ...

So much to do, so little time ... lol. Well, I have a day off and I took advantage of it by staying up way to late last night doing what I love to do - designing.~

There are so many other things I should of been doing around the house but they certainly aren't as fun ... lol. Hopefully I'll get some of those things done today. There's not alot to actually blog about right now except the weather has stayed spectacular and looks like it's going to be around for awhile. What a summer!!! It's almost back to school time and I'm sure the kiddies had one of the best summers of their lives.

Well, my daughter had her ultasound on Thursday. She said it was amazing and they watched the baby do somersaults and move around. She said it was the most amazing day of her life! And ........ she found out the sex. It's a BOY!!! OMG - it's so weird knowing already. She still has 5 months to go until this precious boy is born. She is going to pay to have a 3D/4D ultrasound done in October or November and I am going to go see it! Now THAT will be totally amazing and I can't wait!!!

4 Months and Counting ...

Holy Moly ... my daughter is officially 4 months along in her pregnancy. She definately has a baby bump and she says she feels huge ... haha. She will be getting her second ultrasound this Thursday and they are both hoping to find out the sex of the baby. Personally I like the 'surprise' of finding out at birth but they both are anxious to know and think it will be easier for decorating etc. I'm still shocked I'm actually going to be a grandma and have still not decided what I want to be called. One thing I do know is this baby is most likely to be an Aquarius, just like me ♥~♥

I'm hoping in the next few weeks to get the copies of all her wedding pictures so I can start her scrapbook. I haven't made one since her engagement album and I'm anxious to actually do it. All these things I have created and I don't take the time to actually scrap ... lol. Working has really put a crunch on my time for everything but I refuse to give up designing because I just love to do it.

Somewhere Over The Rainbow ...

First off ... I am proud to say I have a new award. I was voted as a winner of the 2010 Top Scrapbooking Blogs Award given by Online MBA. To be honest I've never heard of it ... lol ... but hey, goes to show you my blog is out there~! Thanks and I have proudly displayed my award on the right side of my blog. I was mentioning my new 'part time' job the last post and I LAUGHED at Toby's comment about how I need it incorperate the word NO into my vocabulary. She said I should tell them I'm happy with 10 hours and I should tell them NO to sometimes having to work 30 hours. LOL. The truth is I'm booked next week 48 hours~! Hmmm ... I don't think I've EVER been away from the computer for that long~ I hope I don't forget how to type ... LOL!

On Saturday when I got home from work my husband called me to come outside and it was the most spectacular sight. It was a FULL rainbow (a complete half circle) and it was awesome. I've seen many rainbows in my life but NEVER a complete one. And it was bright. It was changing by the minute because of the clouds but it really was totally amazing. Of course, I took some pictures but I couldn't fit the whole thing in one shot. You would definately need a wide angle lens. And even though the pictures don't do it justice ... here is a little idea of what we saw ...

Again, the pictures do it no justice .. it was a full rainbow where there was no beginnning and no end and it felt like our house was being circled by these beautiful lights. As we were watching it there actually started to be a double rainbow (which again I've never seen) but the second rainbow did not fully develop. (You can see it starting in the smallest of the 3 pictures above .. it's to the right of the rainbow). Oh nature is so amazing~!!

And speaking of nature ... I have a new project I want to try ... (IF I find the time ... lol). Last weekend when my daughter and her husband came down we all went to Toronto on the Sunday and met up with my 2 step daughters and the husband of one of them (that's a hard sentence to try and explain ... lol). We went to the ROM (Royal Ontario Museum) where they had the "The Warrior Emperor and China's Terracotta Army" going on. SUPER interesting but you were not allowed to take pictures. I could write a whole blog about it but it would take forever!!!. Anyways you get to look at all the exhibits once you pay to get in and they also had a Dinasour exhibit and nature exhibit. In those areas you were allowed to take pictures and I saw something that I really loved.

It was this wall of dried flowers on display and I was immediately attracted to it. These are real flowers that were dried and dispayed in a bouquet type arrangement and I loved the idea. One of my favourite flowers is the 'Black Eyed Susan' and mine are in full bloom right now.

So here is a close up of what I want to do;

I am going to try and figure out how to do this ... I did find this site that gave some great information about it HERE ... and hopefully I can find some time to play with yet another project ... LOL.

Ahhh ... I miss this! I know it's only been a week since I've been here but it feels like forever!! lol I started a part-time job and have been getting long shifts ... it's more like a full time job. I wanted to get a job to get out of the house and have a little extra spending money but I didn't realize I was going to get that many hours. I haven't had any designing time at all this week. :-(

Luckily I have a few things on backup but I really miss working on new stuff. I'm also squeezing in this post because I have to work tomorrow and have a few things I need to get done. I hope I can handle this!!!

I did have the weekend off and my daughter and husband came down. We went for a nice walk while the guys kayaked down a creek beside the path we were walking. Well, sorta kayaked ... lol. The water was sooo low because of the lack of rain that they spent alot of time dragging the kayaks over rocks, beaver damns and low areas. It was a 4 km. stretch and not a bad walk but the guys were exhausted by the time they were done. They actually at one point had to drag the kayaks on the path to find a little more water ... lol.

☼ Summer Flowers ☼

Summer is on full blast and so are all the summer flowers. I have mostly perennials in my gardens but leave a little space for some annuals to fill in the gaps while the perennials grow. And grow they have. One of my favourite flowers is the Purple Cone Flower which this year is well over 3 feet tall. I only planted this perennial last summer! Another favourite of mine is the buttercup. It spreads so fast but is easy to keep under control and divide to put other places. I actually brought some pieces 3 years ago from my other house when we moved here and I've already divided it and put in many places. I've even given my neighbour some. Both of these plants flower for a long time. Somehow my gardens ended up mostly purple and yellow though which was not intentional. Looks like next year I'm going to have to expand them and add some different colours! lol There is something so peaceful about watching flowers grow.

The Little Peanut ~

First off I wanted to say the heat has continued. Not quite as hot as it was but still pretty darn hot! Love it! What a great summer this year. It's been a longggggggg time since we've had a summer like this. So needless to say I want to go outside and enjoy it. We are going to work outside today and put some rocks in the gardens and I am going to stain a little table and just enjoy the sun~!

Now ... about the peanut ... lol. My daughter had her first ultrasound done at 8 weeks!. (She is now over 11 wks). Her due date is January 26th. It's so exciting seeing there REALLY is a baby in there. She calls it her little peanut right now because that's about the size of it ... lol.

Ahh ... my little grandbaby is growing. So exciting~!!!!

So of course all I can think about lately is babies, babies and babies! I'm still waiting to get the pictures of her wedding so I can work on her scrapbook so in the meantime I'm going to get ahead of the game for the upcoming bundle of joy~!

Whoa! The heat wave in Ontario continues on. Another scorcher today. I think this is the last day of the extreme heat and it should be getting back to normal summer temperatures. I'm not complaining, I love the heat. Probably a little too much ... lol.

What are you doing to beat the heat?

~ Heat Wave ~

Wow, we are in the in middle of a heat wave. It's 32 celcius today (feels like 43 with humidity - that's 109 farenheit) and it's been hot for a few days like that and it's going to continue until Thursday. I actually love it but thank god for air conditioning ... lol.

It's great to go outside and feel that heat for a bit and then just open the door to instant coolness.

My daughter is just starting to go through the proofs of her wedding pictures and wow does she have some fabulous shots. I can't wait to get ahold of those digitals to start making her wedding scrapbook. It's going to be alot of work but I'm really looking forward to it.

They went to Dominican for their honeymoon and had a fabulous time. It was kind of sad that she was at an all-inclusive resort and couldn't drink ... lol (since she found out that she is expecting) but she was definately OK with that, they are both so excited. They did go zip lining through a forest and had a blast.

Crazy as a Fox!

Ok, sometimes I really think my husband is as crazy as a fox! lol

Canada Day started off with glorious weather that carried on throughout the whole day. The sun was shining and there was a nice breeze. What better day to fly a kite, right? Well, my hubby had bought a Canada Day kite and was so excited that he got to fly it on Canada Day. So he brought it out and spent the good part of an hour trying to get it off the ground ... lol. He finally got it up in the air but it wasn't doing too well and the string broke. Then he said because it didn't have a tail it wasn't balanced properly. So he cut up a plastic grocery bag into strips and made a tail for it. Then said the string wasn't strong enough so he was going to fix that!!! Oh yeah, he fixed it ... he brought out his fishing rod and tried the kite to that. LOL Now being a proud Canadian, he sat back for another hour and was dazzled by his new invention - kite fishing. It actually worked quite well but he did not feel like a true Canadian until he also had a beer beside him. What can I say? Only in Canada ... LOL

To me the kite was really nice to watch against the beautiful blue sky but I was looking forward to the fireworks that night. And it was worth the wait.

One of the parks here has a music fest all summer every Wednesday and Saturday. They had one also last night for Canada Day. It's right on a lake and after the live music there was a spectacular fireworks show.

To my fellow Canadians, I hope you also celebrated this wonderful country~!

Celebrate your Country ~!

First off I wanted to show you this cute picture of these woodpeckers.

There was ALOT of woodpeckers born around here this year. They have been feeding on the peanuts we put out and in the picture above the mom was getting peanuts and feeding it to the baby. Many of babies have been coming to our backyard to feed without the moms and I guess because they have seen us since birth they are so tame! And funny!. They go to the back of our house and sit on the brick wall very close to us. And every once in a while you will hear a 'rap, rap, rap' and they are knocking their beaks against the deck. Just instinct I guess but they obviously don't know the difference between a wooden deck and a tree yet ... lol.

Canada Day is in just a few days and it's time to celebrate Canada. The weather is supposed to be nice so I'm hoping to see some fireworks somewhere. A few days later the United States celebrates Independence Day on the 4th of July where I'm sure fireworks will be abundant. No matter what country you are from it's always nice to celebrate where you live.

Oh beautiful nature ...

We continue to see different birds around here that we have never seen before. It's fabulous. One of the birds is a Baltimore Oriole which is gorgeous and bright orange. It hasn't come close enough to get a picture yet. And today we saw an Eastern Kingbird which is a dark bird with a white chest and also very cute. I tried to get pictures but I had to zoom too much and they came out blurry. But ... give me time ... lol.

We took a drive the other day just out of town to see if the Ospreys were nesting on the hydro poles like last year. And they were. We don't think the babies are born yet because we only saw the adults but they sure were protecting their nests.

Last year we went in August and saw the babies. I'm sure we'll go back a few more times this summer.

I am disgusted by their behavior and cannot believe what some people will do just to get attention. It makes me sick and I hope people realize that those people DO NOT represent Canadians~!!!

One of the things that really fascinates me is the sky. It is always ... different ... lol. The other day it was a gorgeous sunny day out and around dinner time the clouds started to roll in. It was just amazing to watch. It actually looked like a dark funnel cloud right at the back of our house but the clouds were moving very quickly and it kept changing.

It was so interesting to watch. We got very little rain but we did hear thunder in the distance and saw lightening behind some clouds that were pretty far from us. Flowers, skies and birds ... 3 things I have sooooooooooo many pictures of. And the great thing about that is they are all cheap entertainment! LOL

Babies, babies ... everywhere~!!!

The baby birds are out in abundance. Baby tree swallows, robins, woodpeckers, doves, grackles and so on and so on. The thing about birds is sometimes it's really hard to tell the babies from the parents as far as size. That's because most baby birds do not leave the nest until they are big. The only way you can tell most times is because one bird is feeding another and the 'cheep' is much higher with the baby birds. From a distance you would never know they are just babies.

The tree swallows that were nesting in our bird house spent a full day trying to coax the babies out of the house and they are now gone. That's the sad thing, once they leave the bird house that's it, they are gone. But it was fun to watch them. Last year I got to watch as each baby flew out (at least 6 of them). This year they tried all day and I guess very early the next morning they got the babies to actually come out and I missed it!. But I did get these cute pictures of the day they tried.

And the baby woodpeckers are so adorable. They have been around like crazy feeding on the peanuts and even though they are the same size as the mother they are much more clumsier ... LOL.

The baby woodpeckers have been so fun to watch. They stumble and fall and aren't quite sure exactly what they should be doing but they follow the mom around and try to mimic her. They aren't as nervous as the parents and will land really close to you and just look at you. It's just amazing watching the cycle and how birds learn.

And then there is the baby grackles who for some reason ALL look bigger then the mom. So when mom is feeding the babies it looks ridiculous ... lol. And same as the baby robins they are as big as the mom when you get to see them but just clumsier and dependant still on the mom to get fed.

And why am I talking so much about babies?? Are you ready?? ... lol

I'm going to be a grandmother~!!!!!!

I've actually known for a month now and it was really hard to keep it in but my daughter found out she was expecting just 3 weeks before her wedding. She wanted to keep it hush, hush until she was sure everything was ok. And today she had an ultrasound and they saw a little blob with a heartbeat!!! LOL Soooooooooo exciting~!!! They are both so excited about being parents. My daughter is going to be 28 this year and has wanted children since she was a little girl ... lol. She will be a fabulous mother!

Even though I have known for a month now, I think its just starting to kick in. With the wedding and everything going on it didn't seem real. But now ... OMG ... she is due near the end of January. I don't want to be called grandma, so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated ... LOL.

I'm finally back ... lol. Wow, what a week.

My daughters wedding was just fabulous on the 11th and the weather couldn't of been more perfect. Sunny and warm but not too hot. I actually got through my speech. Even though I was nervous I think I did ok, my daughter cried ... lol. Everything was perfect, the wedding, the reception it all couldn't of been nicer.

She got ready at her house with all the girls and this is her coming down the stairs with her Maid of Honour. She was breathtaking!

Busy, busy, busy

First off, I just want to show you a beautiful flower that opened in my garden. This is a Crimson Hybrid Lily and it's a new perennial I put in this year.

Isn't it beautiful? Alot of my other perennials are just starting to bud.

It's been a crazy, busy week. Wow my head is spinning. I can't even imagine how my daughter feels. Her wedding is this Friday. I'm soooooooooo nervous about my speech. I've never been good at public speaking and I just hope I can get through it ... lol. I told my daughter I want to go first and then after that I'll be fine.

I have lists everywhere of things to do, things to bring, reminders for this, reminders for that ... lol. So needless to say this is going to be a quick post today and actually a day earlier then planned so I can get more done tomorrow.

Field of Firefles ...

A long post but I hope you take the time to read it.

What a show! The field behind our house puts on quite the show every June. And right on time the fireflies started the other night. But last night was spectacular! We sat in the gazebo and watched the field sparkle with fireflies. It's actually mesmerizing. I wish I could get a picture but I tried and it showed nothing - just dark. I even tried to video and that didn't work either ... lol. It's just one of those things where you have to be there.

I love where we live, our house and property but the main reason I love it is because of the land we don't own behind our house. We have such an amazing view and there is so much going on back there.

The field has different flowers all summer, tons of birds and butterflies, fireflies etc. Right now the daisies are starting to open down the way a bit and soon they will be opened right behind us.

The frogs start their croaking in May and it goes on night after night. Some people might hate that but we love it! Behind a line of trees there is a large pond and that attracts so many birds, frogs and other wild life. A few weeks back the conservation authority asked the neighbourhood to come out one day and help them plant more trees. It was great. They planted spruces and maples and many other kinds scattered throughout the feild that will start to attract different birds. Actually yesterday I saw a large bird on top of a dead tree and went and got the binoculars. It looked like a REALLY LARGE woodpecker and as it flew away I followed it with the binoculars and tried to memorize the markings and then immediately looked it up in my bird book. I'm almost positive is was a Pileated Woodpecker which apparently are very rare to see. I obviously didn't get a picture but the picture below will show you what I saw. It was amazing!!!

Besides that I hate the cold and snow, the other reason I'm not a winter person is because I really miss all this nature stuff I get to see all the other seasons. I guess that's why I appreciate it so much during spring, summer and fall. Even the different bugs that are around.

Oh.. and the baby tree swallows have been born in our bird house and mom and dad have been feeding them large bugs so I wouldn't be surprised to see the babies soon. (I'll definately get pics of those, of course they will probably look exactly like last years babies ... lol)

Wow ... June already! May weather has been great and I hope it continues.
Only 10 days until my daughters wedding. Wooooooooooo Hooooooooooo!!!

Jan De Nobriga has contacted me to claim her prize. She's going shopping~ Congrats again Jan.

I got to thinking about all the things that are going on in June and realized that Fathers Day is just around the corner also. That got me thinking about creating some things and that got me thinking about 'masculine' vs. 'feminine'. I realized it is so 'stereotypical' to create certain designs for females and different designs for males. Colours are another thing that seem to divide males vs. females when creating. Pink, red, purple = feminine. Black, brown, blue = male. Not ALL of the time but some of the time that's just how people see it. But the truth of the matter is (most?) men like flowers and they come in every shade of the rainbow and are considered to be feminine. I've seen men in pink shirts and that doesn't bother me at all. Women wear blue jeans all the time (including me) and yet the origin of blue jeans is that they were made as work pants for men. I think our brains are so trained as to what is feminine and what is masculine that sometimes it's hard to see 'outside the box'. Anyways that was what I was thinking as I was creating some new things that went into LLL Creations Dollar Mart today ... LOL. (I know ... I'm a little strange ... lol)

Dedication to Mischief

This post is in dedication of Mischief. It's so weird not having him around. I find myself wanting to put out 2 cat dishes, looking at a certain chair he used to lay on to see if he's there, almost calling him for 'treat time' and constantly thinking 'I wonder where Mischief is' and then reality kicks in. Nemo is doing the same thing. Most mornings when we are having our coffee outside on the upstairs deck Nemo would run out with us immediately. After a few minutes Nemo would look in through the screen to see if Mischief is coming around to come outside too. Mischief was never in a rush. He would come outside when he felt like it ... lol. Nemo still does that, he looks through the screen into the kitchen for a few seconds and then I think he realizes Mischief isn't coming out anymore. It's so darn sad! But mostly I miss him at night. Mischief has always been a lap cat. He wants to sit on you all the time. At night he would come upstairs and I would have to lay on my back so he could do his 'trot' on my stomach and then he would lay down. I'm not a back sleeper so when I would turn, he would turn with me. If I was on my side, he would lay on my hip, if I was on my stomach, he would lay on my back. Sometimes I used to think he was a pain ... lol, but now I just miss it. :0(

Animals are like our children, we take pictures of them, we put their pictures into frames and they are also part of our scrapbooks. They give us joy like kids and are part of our family. I often wonder how anyone could be cruel to an animal.

Heat Wave

Thank you all so much for your kind words about our loss of Mischief. We miss him very much and it's so hard to tell how Nemo is feeling. He seems a little off, very bored and meows alot. We have been bringing him outside on the deck with us a little more in the mornings and he likes that. It's probably my imagination but he seems to have this sad face when he's laying around. I'm sure it will take a while for all of us.

Baby it's hot outside~! We've had a full week of way above normal temperatures. And tomorrow it is supposed to be even hotter! So on went the air conditioning today. Last summer we only used the air conditioner 2 days the whole summer. I love the heat but today was even a little hot for me. We did get alot of outside work done this week though. I finished planting all my flowers and we cleaned out the garage. The evenings have been beautiful and we actully had a bonfire 3 nights in row. And ... I discovered that roasted marshmallows are great spread on chocolate chip cookies ... lol. You gotta try it!

With A Sad Heart ...

Our wonderful cat Mischief has passed on. For the past few weeks we actually thought he might be doing better. He was eating more then ever but unfortunately still not putting on weight. But his spirit was up and he was acting semi-normal. But for the past few days he took a turn for the worst and it was obvious his hind legs were giving out on him and then yesterday he would stand and look at the food but not eat anything. Then he did the strangest thing and went and layed down in the bathroom and pretty much stayed there all day. Mischief never goes into the bathroom ... ever. We knew the time had come and we were prepared to put him down today. But last night we brought him up to bed with us and he was purring but very weak. We talked to him and he knew he was loved. When my husband got up at 7 am. Michief had gone downstairs in the middle of the night and passed away in the bathroom. I believe he wanted his life to end here, at home. From everything I've read it sounds like kidney failure which is very common with cats.

We had talked in the past about doing something with his ashes when the time came to put him down. But my husband suggested we bury him in the field behind our house where he had his last stroll just a few weeks ago. He made him a nice cedar box and lined it with linen and we said our goodbyes. We planted a cedar tree to mark the spot and I spread Forget-Me-Not seeds on his grave.

We weren't sure what to do about Nemo and decided to show him Mischief in case there was any chance he could then know why Mischief was no longer around. But it was obvious to us that he had already seen Mischief because as I held Nemo and approached the bathroom Nemo panicked and just wanted to run away.

We are both walking around like zombies today and just trying to stay busy. My husband is planting tomato plants and here I am blogging. I guess sometimes blogging is kinda like therapy.

Goodbye my dear friend, you will be missed.

What a longgggggggggg weekend~!

Whew ... I had a long weekend. Long but nice. We left on Thursday night and drove a few hours to my brothers place where we were staying overnight. Early Friday we all left for Michigan which was a 5 1/2 hour drive (plus another hour at the border) because my nephew Jordan was graduating from Northwood University on the Saturday. We checked into our hotel and we all went out for dinner. The next day the weather was just beautiful and the graduation was very nice. It was long because there were so many graduating but it was also very nice to see all these young people with such great futures ahead of them. They all looked so proud and they should be!

We left late in the afternoon and had the long drive back to my brothers. My other nephew Eric came over and brought my great nephew Devin who I haven't seen in a few months and he has grown sooo much. He is just over 8 months old and sooo cute. He's also very strong and I wouldn't be surprised to see him walking soon.

And then the following day my husband and I went to a Blue Jays game in Toronto on the way home. I was exhausted from all the driving ... lol.
