It's Coming ...

I think I've figured out what my next series is going to be ... a wedding series called 'Wedding Wishes'. My step-daughter is getting married next Saturday and I've been making all kinds of wedding elements. After the 'is for' series ends I'll be giving away a part of the wedding series each week for ummm ... many weeks ...lol. I know there is alot of wedding stuff going on out there in digi-land but everyone has there own ideas and style. Many of these elements could be used for other occasions too - they are just love inspired~!.

Todays freebie is 'song inspired'...lol.

Nearing the end!

Wow, it seems like yesterday I started the 'is for' series and now I'm already at W. I'll have to think up some other 'series' to do.

The leaves are really starting to change around here. That is the one thing about Autumn that I love, the gorgeous Autumn colours. In a week or two we will take a drive around just to look at all the trees and take some pictures. The only bad thing is that the next step is ---> winter. I am not a winter person. I would just like to hibernate until it is over. Maybe this year we won't get as much snow as last year ... maybe this year it will be alot milder ... maybe this year it will forget to come!

More Metal Charms~!

This time of year it is so interesting to watch the birds change their habits. We don't have alot of starlings around in the summer but in the fall they start coming around in litterly droves.

It's like they are practicing to fly south like the Canada Geese do. They all gather in the trees and then take off all together, return to the trees and do it all over again. They make quite the noise too ... just like in the 1963 movie 'The Birds' by Alfred Hitchcock. (OK, I'm dating myself ...lol) But come to think of it I always loved that movie.

Todays freebie is another set of metal charms, I hope you like them.

Hurrican Ike

My heart goes out to everyone who had to go through yet another hurricane. Hurricane Ike effected so many people, one of them a regular scrapbook blogger. Please visit Casey at Pretty Scrappy
and read the sad story and send her some well wishes. She is from Galveston, TX - one of the worst places that was hit.

I would like to know if anyone can give me a clue as to what type of bird this might be. Its been around the last few days and I don't recognize it at all~! I even looked through my bird book and don't see anything familiar.

The only thing I can think of is that the bird is young and does not have it's proper plumage yet. It just seems kind of late in the year for a baby bird though. Either way, it's a mystery to me..lol.

Camera Effects

I decided to try some of the features of my camera. Some of them I will never use but this one in particular I think I might. It's called Color Accent. It's easy to use too. You just put it on the Color Accent setting and point your camera to the color you want 'accented' and press a button. Now when you take a picture only the color you have chosen will show up in the picture.

(NOTE: In Canada, we actually spell 'Colour' with a u. I had to use that word so much in the previous paragraph that I decided to spell it the way it is spelled on my camera - hense Color Accent vs. Colour Accent. This english language can be sooo confusing...lol.)

Here I chose the blue sky ...

Here I chose the yellow flower ...

And here I chose the brown wood ...

Kind of interesting. It would be perfect for children potraits or weddings. My step daughter is getting married on October 4th, so I'm definately going to try it then! If anyone has any neat ideas when to use this feature please let me know~!.

We will never forget ...

I think everyone no matter where you are from will never forget exactly where you were and what you were doing on the morning of Sept. 11, 2001. Personally I was at work which was in Retail merchandising and display. We were doing a floor change and working hard putting together new fixtures for the bedding department. I noticed a crowd gathering in front of the tv's in the electronics department and walked over to see what all the 'fuss' was about. That's when I saw the first plane go into the tower. It was like watching a movie, unreal, hard to accept that this was actually happening to our neighbours in the U.S.A. From that moment on for weeks I spent every minute I could listening, watching and grieving with everyone about this horrific disaster.

I watched the memorial today that was going on at the Pentagon and I still choke up - it still seems unreal. So today my heart and prayers go out to everyone who's life was affected on Sept. 11, 2001.

Warm Days ... COLD nights ...

Brrrrr ... it is getting so cold at night. The days are still alright but it really drops in the evening. Plus it's starting to get dark before 8 pm already. :-( Next thing I know it will be dark around 4:30 and thats when the days seem soooo short~! I love Canada but I sometimes think I should of been born somewhere tropical ... lol.

We've been getting alot of baby frogs around the last few weeks. I have to really be careful when I'm cutting the grass, I'd hate to run one over! My cats find it very entertaining though.

Back to normal ...

We've had more summer in one week then we did all summer ...lol. I actually had to water my grass which I've rarely had to do this summer because of all the rain. It's also back to 'normal' Canadian clouds as opposed to the caribbean clouds we had been seeing. My husband and I usually do alot of traveling to the caribbean but because we built this new house last year we've 'skipped' a year and just enjoyed life here.

Which brings me to the next letter of the 'is for' series;
