Ahhhhh... summer

Wow, another wicked storm last night. But today it is beautiful again. I actually sat outside under our covered patio last night and watched the storm, trying to catch pictures of lightening which is almost impossible ... lol. It looks like the next week is going to be beautiful every day. Maybe August will make up for all the crappy weather in May, June and July.

All the baby woodpeckers are around this week. There are so cute and fend for themselves when they are still really small. Not like the Grackles - those birds are being fed by the parents when they are bigger then the parents!








Wow, this wasn't meant to turn into a 'bird' blog ....lol. Oh well, it's just another one of my hobbies.

A Little Early... or is that late?

Well, I was going to post this tomorrow but I'm up a little later tonight and a little restless. This week has been weird, first we saw a Blue Heron while fishing, the next day a Blue Heron behind our house and then we went for a 12 km. bike ride and seen another Blue Heron~! Three in one week. Blue Herons are supposed to be good luck, so I AM WAITING~!!!! LOL

A friend of mine just sold her house and she and her husband bought a trailer home in the country around here and bought another trailer home in Florida. They have officially become what we call 'Snow Birds', which is living in Ontario in the summer months and living in Florida in our winter months. I give them both credit, that's a huge move after owning a home and raising 2 kids. Since I am not a winter person myself, I envy them, but I wouldn't have the nerve to do it. I wish them all the happiness in the world~!!!

A Nice Surprise!

Well, I had a nice surprise the other day. The day right after we saw the Blue Heron while we were out fishing, a Blue Heron was right behind our house on a dead tree in the conservation area. It's the first one I've seen at our place. These birds are huge and very beautiful. Doesn't take much to get me excited~! LOL







I spent all morning outside today, it's absolutely beautiful out~!

An unexpected bird ...

Well now this bird was not one I had anticipated on getting pics of. This Blue Heron was on someone's dock while we were fishing on Otonabee River. We both thought it was a statue ... until it moved ...lol. It ended up going in the water and catching a fish. Which is more then we can say~!



And this duck followed our boat from one end of the river to the other just because I gave him a piece of granola bar ...lol.



Today's freebie is something that I've used many times when printing pictures. I've used digital photo corners even when printing pictures for frames. I find it kind of gives them a 3 dimensional look. I think it also adds to scrapbooking pages especially if you have a colour theme going.

Living on the Edge ...

of a conservation area, that is (lol) - has made me a total bird nut. (Actually I think I've always been one, but now I really have to admit it.) I've been trying to see how many different types of birds I can photograph. I find some will actually pose, others you must keep your distance, and others are way too speedy to ever get a picture. The zoom on my camera is pretty good but I find the farther you zoom, the more pixelated the picture is. The woodpecker is one of my favourite birds.



So I might be scrapping some bird pictures in the future - which brings me to the next letter in the 'is for' Series.

I've Decided ...

I've decided to give away something that isn't chrome ...lol. I have no idea why I'm so partial to chrome, I really need to start working with other textures but don't be surprised when I slip back to the metal elements.

A Few Words ...

I've been getting swamped with messages asking me what the password is for my freebies. The password is ALWAYS below the picture of the freebie, IF the freebie has not expired. When I opened this blog I made the decision to have the freebies available for one week. At the beginning I was emailing people the freebies they had requested if they missed them but unfortunatley I will not be doing that anymore. It is possible I might repost them sometime in the future but for now I am sticking to my original plan, to have them expire after one week. I love getting emails and comments about the freebies, don't get me wrong, and I still don't mind doing 'special requests' at all, when I have the time. This is a hobby to me, as long as I have the time to create, I will keep doing it.

More Metal ...

Ahhhhhh........ Four days in a row of wonderful weather. Actually many people might of thought it was too hot, but not me. Today is overcast but there are signs that it is clearing up.

There was such a great response to my Metal Charms 1 that I decided to make more. These ones are very similar to the first ones, the next ones I am working on are going to be a little different. But you will have to wait to see. I'm pretty happy the way these are turning out. I think they could work with a lot of different scrapbook pages. Hope you like them.

Happy Canada Day!

Canada is one of the best countries in the world to live in. I am such a proud Canadian and even though I'm not much of a 'winter' person, I wouldn't live anywhere else. If you don't live in Canada, I hope someday you get to visit this beautiful country! Enjoy Canada day, the weather here is awesome today and I'm sure there will be fireworks everywhere tonight.
