Today is painting day. We are going to do the guest bedroom. I'm not worried about painting that room. I'm still worried about the dining room. I'm even having second thoughts about the colour. I haven't actually bought the paint for the dining room yet. We'll see ...lol. The brand I bought was Behr and I've never used that brand before so I'll see if I like how it goes on.
Christine asked me what colour flowers my Christmas Cactus has (from the post 2 down). It actually just got a couple flowers on it so here it is;
Mostly white with some pink. This plant was my husband's mothers and is over 30 years old. I have another one that is much smaller with solid hot pink flowers. They are really beautiful plants.
Today is the last day of February. YAY~! Not that I'm wishing the months away, time flys fast enough as it is. But this has been a longgggg winter!

Life's A Crock
Life's a Crock ~ That's the theme of a party we went to on Saturday night. Two chefs from the college (one retired) put on this party. Everything was made in a crock pot and it was sooo yummy. There were quite a few people there and it was fun. It was BYOB (Bring your own booze) and BMOB (Bring my own booze) and they supplied all the food ... lol. Apparently they've done parties like that before with fondues etc. What a great idea~!
Even though the weather has still been cold you can actually feel spring in the air. The sun has been shining more and the days are getting longer. Bring it on!

Picking Out Paint
Yes, the dreaded 'picking out paint colours'. I find it to be so stressful ...lol. How can you possibly look at a paint sample that is 2" x 2" and decide what a whole room will look like??? We are going to paint the guest bedroom and the dining room. (And maybe the kitchen and bathroom ... shhhhh... lol). I'm going to start with the guest bedroom because it's an easier room to paint. The colour I picked is called Sunset Beige and I bought the paint yesterday.
The colour I have picked for the dining room is called Gold Buff.
I picked the colour out of this picture I have on the wall.
I have to admit, I'm terrified~!~ LOL The dining room is pretty big (it's like a sitting room/dining room) Both colours are a little darker then I normally paint but I'm looking for a drastic change. Right now we just have that off white that they put in new houses. I'm definately into earth tones, I just find them so warm. Of course the samples here look different then in person and will look different again on the walls so wish me luck~!

Back up and then back up again~!
Many years ago I learned a priceless lesson which I will never forget. Wendy from Dallas, Texas was telling me how she had to reformat her computer but she wasn't worried because she had everything backed up on an external hard drive. Unfortunately when she plugged in the external after the reformat, the external died. Sound like a one in a million chance? Don't be so sure, I had almost the exact same thing happen to me many years ago. I was devastated, I lost everything. Luckily it was many years ago when I didn't have alot to lose (though it seemed like it at the time). These days I have 2 externals (actually 3 but I don't trust one of them) and back up everything twice. Even when your computer is running fabulous it can happen in a split second. So don't procrastinate - back up!! (And then back up again~!!!)
Well, during the four days of the Great Backyard Bird Count, I basically only saw 4 species of birds (Mourning Doves, Downy Woodpecker, Black Capped Chickadee and European Starlings) ~ until the last day. I saw a Red Tailed Hawk. It was flying right over my house but it was too far up to get a picture. I knew it was a hawk but I wasn't sure what kind so I went to the Checklist and typed in my postal code and it gave me the option of 4 hawks in this area. When you click on the name of the bird it takes you to a page all about it and even lets you listen to the sound it makes. I found out immediately it was a Red Tailed Hawk. The only reason I actually noticed it was because of the sound it made as it flew by. Then it circled around and around but was getting very high in the sky so I couldn't take a picture of it. The Cornell Lab of Ornithology is a fabulous site all about birds. Ok, the geek in me is coming out again ... LOL.

•:*♥*:• Happy Valentines Day •:*♥*:•
Today is a relaxing day. My hubby gave me flowers, an adorable teddy bear and fudge~! Ahhhhhhhhh ... so sweet.
Yesterday I did the Great Backyard Bird Count and it was very interesting. I did it for an hour and I didn't go anywhere, I just observed my back yard. I only saw 3 different species of birds but it was a sunny (and cold) day and I was able to get some pretty neat pictures. During that hour I saw 2 Mourning Doves, 4 Black Capped Chickadees and 1 Downy Woodpecker. (You only report the largest amount of the one species you see together because you could be seeing the same birds over and over, so though I saw many Black Capped Chickadees I only reported 4 because I saw 4 at the same time.)
Mourning Dove
Black Capped Chickadee
It's almost like they were posing for the pictures ...lol. I think this is the closest pictures I've ever taken of these 2 kinds of birds. I didn't have any luck photographing the woodpecker.
Its sunny out today too but I haven't had any luck with pictures ... yet.

I'm participating ...
Well, this is a really strange thing but yesterday in my local paper there was an article about this lab in NY that does this yearly Bird Count across the United States and Canada. They actually do alot of interesting things.
"The Cornell Lab of Ornithology uses the best science and technology--and inspires the widest range of people and organizations--to solve critical problems facing wildlife."
I went to the website and it sounded kind of neat and decided to participate. They call it the Great Backyard Bird Count (GBBC)
and it starts tomorrow and lasts for 4 days. You only have to give 15 minutes of your time (or longer if you want). It is to find out what species of birds are growing, which ones are shrinking and where they might be moving. If you take photo's of the birds that you see and send them in you can also win prizes. I thought what the heck, I love watching the birds anyways. You can do it right from your backyard or take the family to a park or conservation area etc. After the four days you just enter the information online at their website. If you are not sure of the names of birds you can type in your area/postal code and it will give you a list of birds in your area with names and pics.
I know, alot of people might think this is 'geeky' but I don't care. I think everyone has an 'inner' geek ... lol.
Ok, now on to the next part of the Wedding Wishes series;
For those of you wondering how long this series is going to go on, there are only 4 more parts ...I think ... lol.

So nice to see the sun ...
Well I finally see some grass. The weather has dramatically changed over the past few days and it is going to get milder all week. The snow is finally melting~! We have sunshine and are actually supposed to see +7 and +9 celsius by Wednesday! Now I'm not kidding myself that we won't have another snow storm, we actually had one in April last year but I'm pretty sure the worst is over. :-)
Since stamps seem to be very popular I couldn't resist making some for Valentines Day. But they could actually be used for many occasions~!.
Enjoy~

Some of my favourite things ...
For creating scrapbook pages I find that some of my favourite things are wordart and frames. Of course the paper makes or breaks the page and you need other elements to tie it together but the way you frame your pics and the words you put on the page to me are the main focus other then the pics themselves. So obviously that seems to be what I create the most. I consider wordart to be any element that has words on it, not necessarily just words. But if anyone has any other idea's of something useful just let me know.
My cat Nemo just loves to be up high. I know most cats do but our other cat Mischief is getting too old. If we can't find Nemo we usually start to look up ... lol. We find him in some really strange places.

Yay! January is over ...
Whew ... I'm so glad to see January gone. It is such a longggg month. When February arrives I at least see a light at the end of the tunnel. Except - Today is Groundhog day in Canada and Wiarton Willy has seen his shadow - which according to legend means we are in for six more weeks of winter. Boooo ... I don't listen to Willy ... lol. I still don't get it, it's sunny out today therefore he seen his shadow - shouldn't 'sunny' mean spring is coming??? lol. If he didn't see his shadow (if it was cloudy) it would mean spring is just around the corner. Seems backwards to me so I'm going to stick with my theory. On second thought, we had snow last April, so maybe 6 weeks isn't that bad at all~!!!
Today is the last day for my Daily Digit stamps - so get them while you can. Almost 1000 downloads but I think that figure is actually inaccurate. When I first uploaded them within the first 2 hours I had over 20 thanks and comments about them, yet 4shared was showing 0 downloads. Considering a very small percentage of people actually comment on freebies I know the first few hours there were alot of downloads. Well, 4shared started showing downloads after about the 3rd hour but I'm not sure if it caught up with the actual count or not. Either way it was a great hit and I'm glad people are finding those stamps useful.
Today we are on to the next 'occasion' - Valentines day.
