Grand Opening~!!!

Today is the grand opening of LLL Creations Dollar Mart. It's loaded with alot of never before seen items and some past freebies. Read more about it on the right side of this blog and click on the banner to enter the store. Most items are only one dollar and nothing is over two dollars. If you are from the United States take advantage of this because everyone is paying in Canadian dollars!.

To celebrate I'm giving away an extra freebie this week. My mother was born in County Cork, Ireland and I've always felt proud to be part Irish. I've never been to Ireland but I've seen pictures of the beautiful rolling mountains and countryside. I love the Irish accent and love to watch Irish dancing. And it sure doesn't hurt that the word 'luck' always seems to be associated with being Irish ... lol. I feel lucky in many ways. :-)

And last but not least ...

My husband and I decided to get away for a night. We used to do that all the time but haven't done it in ages. We went to Niagara Falls for a night and had a great room with a great view of the falls. It's about a 3 hour drive from where we are. This is the view from our room, it's the Canadian horseshoe falls and right across is the United States.



Unfortunately the weather wasn't that good, cool and cloudy but it was still nice to get away.

Spring Forward ...

Well today is the day we put the clocks ahead an hour and gain an hour of daylight or lose an hour of the day depending on how you look at it ... lol. But more importantly this is the day that I really consider the end of the winter season even though legally the first day of spring is not until March 20th. We beat another long cold winter and it was a long, cold one. I'm really looking forward to the sun and nicer weather.

Before and After

Well the guest bedroom turned out really nice. I wasn't sure about the colour because it has a 'hint' of orange in it but it goes great with the comforter and accessories. I guess that's why it's called Sunset Beige ...lol. What a difference paint makes. The room seems so much cozier.



Next the dining room ... in the next few weeks hopefully. I'm pretty sure I'm sticking to my original colour plan.

I've noticed over the past week or so alot of different birds seem to be coming back. Over the winter we seemed to only have Chickadee's, doves and woodpeckers around. Now starlings and sparrows etc have been coming back. And it seems like there is alot more 'singing' going on. Looks like spring is around the corner and they must sense it. Wayyyyy behind our house in the conservation area there is a dead tree that sticks up amongst all the others. It seems to be a perching post for larger birds looking for prey. We've seen Hawks, Eagles and even a Blue Heron perched on it. The other day I noticed a large bird on the top and of course ran to get my camera. I had to 'super-zoom' to get it but it was a Red Tailed Hawk. It's funny it looks small in the picture but it must be an illusion because it was so zoomed. When it flew away the wing span seemed huge.
