No matter how nice it is to have a little vacation, it's always nice to come home. We got the chance to get away for a few days to 1000 Islands. And WOW - has the weather ever been great (almost too hot - did I say that?? lol) We've had great weather now for 5 days straight, all sun and hot, hot, hot! We brought our bikes with us because the place we stayed at said they had a nice bike trail. The bike ride was nice ... until I saw this sign;



And it had a nice pool with no one in it (I guess they aren't busy in the middle of the week)



And then part of the package deal was a 2 1/2 hour cruise to see the islands.





This is Boldt Castle and has an amazing love story behind it.

Above is the Tower House for Boldt Castle. It was meant to be used for the power and illumination of the grounds.

Above is a view from the back of Boldt Castle. In front of it is the Alster Tower which was intended to entertain their guests.

Thousand Islands actually consists of over 1800 islands - ranging from the size with the castle on it (which by the way is heart shaped!) to the size below.



In order for it to be called an 'island' it has to have at least 2 trees on it~! It's amazing how many houses are on some of the smaller islands though. And then of course there is 'Millionaires Row" ~ If you ever get a chance to see this beautiful area, it is really nice.
