Weather and Wonders ...

WOWWY~! It's darn cold out there~! Our weather has plummeted and we had a blizzard yesterday that was wicked!





You know, I know I shouldn't be complaining. I DO live in Canada and this winter hasn't been that bad so far. But man, when it arrives, it arrives~! LOL The blizzard didn't actually last too long but the temperatures have stayed below normal. Right now it is -19 celcius and going down to -23. Brrr ...

But tonight was an amazing site. Even before the sun when down the moon was in the sky and HUGE.



And tomorrow night is supposed to be 'real' full moon so I'm hoping the sky is clear like it was tonight.

When I first started digital scrapbooking the thing that I was most 'intrigued' by was overlays. I just thought it was such a great idea because you use them over which ever paper you want, plus you could put your picture underneath them if you want. They do make a page interesting. I have no idea why I haven't been making alot of them, but I'm on a roll now so watch out~!! lol

♫ ... Don't Leave The Dogs Out ... ♫

Ok, I'm not sure how the 'normal' brain works, but I like things to be symetrical, fair, even and balanced ... lol. So after making the Feline Word Art I just couldn't rest until I did some Canine Word Art, that's just how my brain works. Even though I don't have a dog, I just didn't think it was fair to leave the 'other' popular pet out. I love dogs, I just don't want the responsibility of one. Maybe that's selfish but I really think dogs tie you down alot more then cats. My daughter has a dog, my sister has a dog and my brother has one too. When I was a child we had a dog named Brownie for 14 years. He was a great pet and came to the cottage with us every year. So for all of you dog lovers, I have put some Canine Word Art into LLL Creations Dollar Mart today;

Nemo the Nut~!

Ok, I need a break from all that lovey-dovey stuff I've been posting ... lol.
On to something different.

As you all know we have two cats who are the masters of this house. We are obedient servants and even when they get into trouble we always seem to forgive them quickly. Nemo the 5 year old is the most devilish, mischievious, curious and nosey cat on the face of the earth~! (Our 15 year old cat is named Mischief, I think the names got mixed up!) If there is trouble to be found, Nemo will find it! I can't even imagine the trouble he would get into if he was an outdoor cat ... lol. If there is a 'space' he will squeeze into it, if there is a 'hole' he will climb into it and if there is an 'opening' he's going for it! It doesn't matter where the space, hole or opening lead to ... he just HAS to check it out. If you've been following my blog, I'm sure you remember the "Heart in My Gut" story. Nemo has been locked in every closet, the pantry and every cupboard in this house. Sometimes for hours ... lol. He just 'sneaks' in when you open it and you don't even notice him. When you finally open the closet again he's just laying there all cozy, usually with the look of "Shut the door, it's too bright!" on his face ... lol.

Last week he decided to jump on top of a 7 ft high, 9 ft wide wall unit that is in my husbands office. The unit has 3 sections each 3 feet wide and the middle section is pulled out about 5 inches from the wall because of the tv connections etc. Well, because the unit is pulled out Nemo just had to see what was behind this unit and either jump or fell (we aren't sure) behind. Ok, well this unit is heavy empty but it is full of books, tv etc and there is no way we could move it to get Nemo out. So here's my husband standing on a ladder with a broom stuck down the back of it, holding a flashlight, hoping Nemo would climb up the broom and get out, which eventually he did ... lol.

So this week we've been working in the laundry room and Nemo has discovered that if he jumps onto the freezer he can then jump onto the cupboards above the washer and then he can jump onto the cold air return ducts. No problem, the pipes aren't hot or anything. But because this room isn't finished (we are in that process right now) there is actually a space that would lead him under our ceiling into the rest of the finished basement!. No, he hasn't actually discovered it yet. He peaks down from the cold air duct and has been watching us work. But if he was to get bored for even a second he's going to notice this 'space'. Soooooooooo ... needless to say my husband is going to block that off today. We have to "Nemo" proof this house!

And sooo ... that leads me to the item I put into LLL Creations Dollar Mart today.

One thing leads to another ...

Ok, the storage shelves are done ... yay! I haven't got all the totes back in that space yet because we are actually going through them to see what we 'need' and what we 'don't' ... lol. Actually 7 of the totes are just Christmas stuff ... ahhh!

So this part of our laundry room is kind of seperate at the back and just used as a storage area. Heres the progression of the shelves.

This is the space we had the totes stacked.



Each 'space' below holds 2 rubbermaid totes plus a little extra space.



The shelves were done in this wainscoting which is really reasonable in price but because it interlocks it's pretty strong.





That space will hold 20 large rubbermaid storage totes plus a little extra room believe it or not~! We only spent $50 or 60 bucks to build these shelves and it was so worth it. Thanks honey! lol

Ok, but ... that got us thinking ... the laundry room is the only spot in the house that's not finished. So if we built a wall to divide the laundry room and this storage area we could finish off the laundry room for a pretty reasonable price. We could put a door to this area and have the laundry room seperate. So we decided to segregate this area for storage and do something in the laundry room. We might just use the wainscoting for walls because it's only a laundry room. On to another project ... lol.
